We had a new activity, last Wednesday, when a science pub (by some of course immediately named the “Klein bottle”) was held for the first time at OKC. This is a combined scientific and social activity meant to take place monthly, on the last week of the month, and with the working groups of OKC taking turns arranging.
The pioneers last Wednesday were the dark energy working group, who had arranged an impressive program containing appearance of Star Wars character “Lars Vader”, an introduction to dark energy, explanation of the ideas of massive gravity being worked on in the group, among other things. There was also a science quiz with teams competing, and lots of informal discussions took place to the beer and sandwiches provided.
The event was a great success with in all some 50 people participating. My congratulations to the dark energy working group for this memorable event!
