Manne Siegbahn Lecture on LIGO and the first direct detection of gravitational waves

Besides the regular AlbaNovas colloquium-series on Thursdays, there are every year three special named lectures: Oskar Klein Memorial Lecture, Manne Siegbahn Memorial Lecture och Liese Meither Distinguished Lecture, all three supported by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences through its Nobel Institute of Physics. The selection of speakers for the Manne Siegbahn Memorial Lecture is handled by a committee consisting of Mats Larsson, chair, AlbaNova, Sara Strandberg, Fysikum SU, Mark Pearce, Fysik KTH, Göran Östlin, Astronomi SU and David Haviland, Tillämpad fysik KTH.
Thursday, October 20, 2016 the Manne Siegbahn Memorial Lecture was given by Gabriela Gonzalez, Lousiana State University and spokesperson for the LIGO Scientific Collaboration. Gabriela gave a very interesting and well attended lecture on LIGO and the first direct detection of gravitational waves. For somebody who missed the lecture, it is available here: http://video.albanova.se/
